The Story So Far

Goan Sunset

Goan Delights is a new venture specialising in authentic Goan flavours.

The idea came to Simon while visiting family in Goa and experiencing the wonderful explosion of flavours from the local spices.

Goan Delights dates back to August 2004. Where they participated at the Kenn Charter Fair, Kenn Exeter. As it was a great success they continued to do the Fair again in 2005/06. Then Goan Delights was on the map starting at Totnes market on the 10th June 2006. And has already had good customer feed back, with regular customers coming back for more Delights!

Goan Spices

Cuisine in Goa is very distinctive as there are several different blends of spices  which set it apart from other Indian dishes. Whole spices are combined together by hand to create a quality product bursting with unique flavours.
The spices are then ready to mix  with vinegar and coconut milk to produce a spicy sweet and sour paste to complement meat or fish.

Simon trained at Watford College, Hertfordshire and has over 10 years experience in the catering industry.

Most of his career was spent in airline catering at Heathrow Airport; during part of this time Simon worked for British Airways preparing Concorde  meals. He gained valuable experience from chefs in the preparation of Indian, Thai, Arabic and Japanese food, learning how to cook authentic dishes from their own countries.  Simon Also gained experience working for            The Park Lane Hotel in Mayfair London gaining valuable experience under top pastry Chef Derek Rooke, who then went to team up with Anton Edelman at the Savoy Hotel London

Having married into a Goan family, this helped him pursue genuine dishes using secret family recipes, having sought permission from his Mother-in-law first!

The present day:

We would like to say thank you to all our customers which have supported us over the time of trading.

A special thank you to everyone who also supported us in Totnes.

We are taking time out for a while and closing business as from March 2008.

However we are still going to run this web site, and inform you of any new updates and when we return in the future!

Again thank you to you all and support all our small producers & natural farming
